About the 2015 CDL Conference


This year’s conference, “Raising the Bar:  Excellence in Online Education”  will explore the hallmarks of quality of online education, inviting presenters to showcase quality teaching and learning strategies, academic rigor, student support and retention,  innovative curriculum design,  and quality mentoring and teaching practices.

This year’s conference will be a full one-day event offering onsite and virtual participation options.   The morning segment of the conference will include a welcome and greetings from the CDL dean and college officials, a keynote presentation  on the topic of learning to learn by our special guest, Dr. Barbara Oakley, professor of engineering, nationally acclaimed author and presenter.   Following a lunch break, our afternoon segment will comprise of three concurrent sessions, offering a variety of onsite and virtual presentations related to our theme.  The conference will conclude with a light reception and a live streamed poetry reading by a our special guest, renowned French poet and philosopher Philippe Beck who will be making a stop at Empire State College on his April book tour sharing his poems from his latest book Poésies didactiques.

Interested CDL, ESC, and Open SUNY faculty, professionals, and administrators are welcome to attend the 2015 CDL Conference onsite or virtually.   Please note: On-site registration has limited seats and travel reimbursement restrictions.
