This area is meant for you to learn about the Commons, its use, and what your colleagues are doing so you can utilize this system to the best of your ability, as well as meeting the policies Empire State College has enacted to help define this tool.
As the Commons “About” page says:
The Commons is sponsored by the Office of Integrated Technologies which has established this site as an experimental publishing environment for the Empire State College community. This site uses the popular open-source WordPress Multi-User software, which allows users to set up and customize individual and shared web sites using a variety of design templates or “themes.” The Commons is intended to complement the official college web site by providing a place for ESC users to explore personal and professional web publishing.
A few important links to help you as you learn this system:
Use of the Commons and Individual Web Spaces Policy – the college document defining clearly what the Commons is and what belongs in (and out) of the system.
Site Assessment Checklist – a document that translates the above policy to allow you to self-assess your sites to be sure that nothing you publish is “off limits.”
