About Me

Sabrina Fuchs Abrams is Associate Professor in English at SUNY Empire State College.  She teaches in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program in the School for Graduate Studies and is coordinator of the Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies and the Certificate in American Studies.   She received her B.A. from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges in English and American Literature and her Ph.D. from Columbia University in English and Comparative Literature.  She has previously taught at Columbia University and Montclair State University.  She published a book on one of America’s leading women intellectuals entitled Mary McCarthy: Gender, Politics and the Postwar Intellectual and has edited a collection of essays on the Literature of New York. She has also published essays on Hannah Arendt, Diana Trilling, and Dorothy Parker.  Her teaching interests include 19th and 20th century American literature and culture, women writers, women’s humor, and literature of New York.  She is currently working on a study of female satirists in 20th-century America.
